ZonMw Grant Awarded for Research to Improve Care for Gambling Addiction
A consortium of healthcare organizations, researchers, and experts by experience has been awarded a €3 million grant from ZonMw for a five-year research programme aimed at improving care for people with gambling addiction.
Jellinek is one of the co-applicants for the grant. Within the research programme, Marleen de Waal will lead one of the research projects as Principal Investigator. Jellinek has been awarded €500,000 in funding for this project. In addition to Marleen, Melissa Begeman, Marissa de Vries, Kees Joosse, Sera Lortye, and Bram Koet from Jellinek contributed to the grant application.
The research programme brings together scientific research, clinical practice, and lived experience to further strengthen care for people with gambling addiction. Its main areas of focus are improving diagnostics, gaining a better understanding of treatment needs, and evaluating and innovating treatment approaches.
The project will start in early 2027. We look forward to collaborating with our consortium partners.
